Dr No: 3rd Impression
Jonathan Cape, 1958 (256 pages): FINE condition example of the 5th James Bond book, with book boards featuring the 'dancing lady' silhouette. Comes with its correct 3rd impression jacket - which in this case shows a new Jonathan Cape 15s price stamp next to an already clipped corner. This suggests the jacket is probably a 2nd impression jacket, clipped and repriced and paired with the third impression book. (Cape often reused previous left-over jackets from earlier impressions). The 3rdimpression print run was just 5,648. Rarely found in such superb all-round condition, with a vibrant jacket and brand-new looking white internal pages, free of any marks. All told, a fantastically clean book, front to back. Intriguingly, the actual date of publication was 1959, not 1958 as is printed on the copyright page of the book. This error was corrected on all subsequent reprints. Save for a tiny tear to the base of the face of the jacket, this is an as-near-as-perfect example of this book as you are likely to see.
