The Spy Who Loved Me: 1st Edition 1st Impression
Jonathan Cape 1962 (221 pages): NEAR FINE-TO-FINE condition book and jacket, with unclipped original first state jacket with bright, vivid colours. A particularly rare example with unfaded DJ spine, with only minor foxing to the back of the DJ and back flap . Bright, clean, and completely unmarked internal pages, with no staining, foxing, writing, annotations, folds or inscriptions of any kind. Boards are clean and square. Clean page block, still nice and creamy-white. At just 30,000 1st/1sts, the first impression print-run of The Spy Who Loved Me breaks the rule of later books having successively larger print runs. The previous year's Thunderball had a print run of nearly double that. Being much smaller in print run, this is not only numerically very rare, but is very rare in this near-fine-to-fine condition. All told this is an exceptional example of a very low print-run book.
