Jonathan Cape 1955 (256 pages): First edition. first impression, (library binding), originating from Carre's Grammar School - one of the UK's oldest (founded 1604). Smartly-bound with gilt lettering to spine and decorative speckled page block. Trimmed for binding (as was commonly done), this book stands slightly shorter than a standard Cape and features library stamps to the front and rear endpapers and occasionally throughout the book. Inner pages, however, are clean and bright and remarkably mark/blemish free. An attractive book in its own right, this is much less expensive opportunity to cquire a rare Cape first impression of  (First impression print run was just 9,900 copies).
