Diamonds Are Forever: first edition, 6th impression (1964)

Jonathan Cape. 1958 (257 pages): AVERAGE-to-GOOD condition 6th impression. Numerically very rare example - one of just 499. The 6th impression was ordered in early 1964, appearing later that year, initially with a jacket price of 16s. With the 7th impression not arriving till 1974, the same 1964 6th impression printed jackets were used to accommodate three different pricings: the initial 1964 book was priced at 16s; with two further re-pricings: one at 18s (from 1966), with a very small final number (just 499) repriced to £1.25 upon decimalisation in 1970. This example is one of these final 499, and so is exceptionally rare. [Note: Because all three jacket types used jackets printed in 1964, the flaps do not list You Only Live Twice, The Man With the Golden Gun or Octopussy even though these books had now been published since the 18s and £1.25 re-pricings. As such the jacket only mentions books up to 1963's On Her Majety's Secret Service]. This 6th impression book is the final text-based jacket before it was resigned for the 7th and 8th impressions in 1970s, with a picture of Ian Fleming filling up the entire back panel. This example is an ex-library copy, with library pocket on front endpaper and discreet 'Halesowen Public Libraries' stamp to title page, but no other library stamps throughout. Features a remarkably clean, bright, and undamaged jacket. Boards are firm, clean, and square, with bright silver foil lettering. Internal pages 99% clean and unmarked. Just a couple of spreads have very minor spots. Overall condition good still.
