Doctor No - US First Paperback Printing S1670 (Signet 1959)
A Near-Fine rare first printing of the New American Library/Signet's 'Doctor No' - published in 1959. Distinctive cover artwork painted by Barye Phillips. This book is the first time Fleming's 6th novel appeared in paperback form anywhere (the UK Pan paperback did not appear until 1960), and it is noteable for featuring the fully-spelled out version of 'Dr' (the abbreviated spelling was used for UK paperbacks and hardbacks). Features the standard all-round, red-tinted page block. This example is exceptionally good, with only very minor spine 'cracking' (creases along the spine). The wrappers are fresh and briht and in excellent unbent condition. Very minor spotting to the first few pages, but from the first chapter-page onwards, all the pages are clean, bright and blemish-free. Extremely tightly bound, no loose pages, a very minor hint of forward lean. An altogether very good example of this hard-to-come-by book in the UK.
