Moonraker - First UK paperback printing - 1956

NEAR-FINE to FINE condition example of this rare UK first printing of Moonraker - printed by Pan in 1956 (available from 15th Oct that year). There was just this single printing featuring the striking 'missile' cover art by Josh Kirby. It means that any Moonraker paperback will always be a first print as long as it has this cover art, making it the 'only' softback that can be identified without looking at the colophon inside. Almost uniquely, this example has none of the usual hard vertical spine creasing - and just a couple of liht parallel line creases only). It presents with  remarkably clean pages throughout (across the faces of the pages and page block). There are no internal inscriptions or marks. The is a light verticle crease to the front wrapper about 1cm in from the spine edge, but save this a slight forward spine lean, this paperback is in superb, almost unread condition, with tightly bound pages still, and no loose leaves. Clean birght wrappers and sharp corners complete the visual appeal of this scarce book. Difficult to find in the exemplary conditon.
