RARE BLACK BOARDS VARIANT: On Her Majesty's Secret Service 1st/1st

Jonathan Cape 1963 (288 pages): NEAR-FINE  condition. A visually stunning, bright and clean example of this easily sun-faded book - also comprising the rarer black boards variant (rather than standard brown boards). The front and back of the DJ is in exceptionally good condition - no nicks or rubbing - with bright vivid ink still. The back panel (which usually gets grubby/dirtied) is beautifully white. Tape marks to the verso of the jacket, but these barely show through to the front (and will be hidden in the supplied Brodart sleeve with acid-free paper backing).  The spine is almost without trace of fade, staying white where it is supposed to be, and the wood grain is crisp and unblurred (the latter of which sun-fade causes). The condition of the DJ's spine is exceptionally difficult to find.  Jacket is matched with superb condition black boards, with bright foil and sharp corners. No lean, square and tightly bound. Internal pages in exceptionally bright, white condition, with no age-related toning whatsoever. No internal marks, inscriptions or blemishes. Creamy white page block with just a small mark to the top of the block (which doesn't impact the inner pages). A superior example of this mid-sized print run book (45,000).
