Too Hot To Handle (Moonraker) First US paperback, 1956 (Perma M 3070)
FINE CONDITION! This is about a near to perfection as I think is possible for this paperback of this age. All-told this is an absolutely exemplary condition example of the very scarce, first-ever paperback version of Moonraker (re-named by US-based Perma as 'Too Hot To Handle) - published in 1956. (Cover art by Italian-born artist Louis J. Marchetti). Features a dead-square-glued spine with abosultely no lean/roll at all. Has NO creases along the spine at all (except for hinge-lines from the front and back wrappers) - to the extent to which I would say this is in uniquely UN-READ condition. The wrappers are clean, bright and sharp. Internally, the pages are tight, and bright, and completely blemish and mark-free. No inscriptions. No loose pages, with its distinctive (as called-for) red page block. You will not find a better example than this. This book features a number of textual changes (Americanizations), including changing ‘lift’ to ‘elevator’, and ‘zebra crossing’ to ‘pedestrian crossing’. A pristene example of what is already a very difficult-to-find book.
