You Only Live Twice: 1st State/1st Impression
Jonathan Cape 1966 (256 pages): A very good example of this hard-to-fine book - in the all important First State of the first impression with the publishing date that simply says 'First Published 1964.' (The 2nd state of the first impression says 'March 1964' and was originally intended to comprise the second impression, but it was then decided that these already-bound books should be for sale simultaneously with the first state book). Of note: Jacket presents in VERY FINE condition: clipped jacket, but in RARE completely clean and unfaded condition, with the delicate pink peony flower retaining softness but also vibancy. (Note: Most copies of this book have terribly sun-browned jackets). This is a superior example that is tight, sharp and square. Clean cloth boards. Tightly bound. Bamboo-patterned endpapers with discrete owners name and date (showing March 1964). The date inscription nicely indicates that this book was bought either on, or only a matter of days after it was published, which was 26th March). Completely mark-free internal pages - all bright and white with no spotting/foxing or any other blemishes. Creamy-white page blook with just a minor surface spotting that does not impact the inner pages. An exceptional-quality example, rarely found in this superb condition.
